Tire Shredder – Passive Setup

K12 Defense Tire Spike Barriers use teeth (spikes) to deter gate runners and unauthorized traffic from entering or exiting a facility. Often called tire shredders or tiger teeth barriers, these vehicle spike barriers can be either surface mounted (SM36) – which avoids trenching and disturbing utilities, or flush mount (FM36) – below ground, which creates a smoother driving surface for better traffic flow. Manual, one-way spike systems utilize a spring loaded surface mechanism to deter vehicles from driving the wrong way or entering unauthorized areas. More sophisticated systems are mounted in the ground and require electric or hydraulic activation. Available in 3 foot sections, to cover any desired roadway.

POSITIVE UNATTENDED ONE-WAY TRAFFIC CONTROL
The model SM36 Surface Mount Traffic Controller can be quickly attached to existing or new driveways (asphalt or cement) by means of anchor bolts or epoxy cement*. No excavation or cutting is required in normal installations. Installing unit’s end to end can control any width driveway. Because the SM36 is all above grade, drainage problems are minimal. The SM36 teeth and top plate are fabricated from 3/8” heavy duty steel and will carry the heaviest highway axle load expected in normal commerce.

LATCH DOWN: (Standard On ALL Units) For locations where it is desired to occasionally deactivate the controller, the SM36 is equipped with a latch down capabilities. The latch down permits the operator to lock the teeth in the down position to allow free flow in either direction. Using a key, only a few seconds per module is required to lock or unlock the teeth.

FINISH: Polyurethane Epoxy Enamel. Please Specify either (RED or YELLOW)

TEETH AND SPRINGS: Hot Dipped Galvanized. When deployed, teeth extend approximately 2″ above grade.

Because the FM36 is below grade, proper installation is paramount to maintain proper drainage. The FM36 teeth and top plate are fabricated from 3/8” heavy duty steel and will carry the heaviest highway axle load expected in normal commerce. Ideal for government, military and corporate applications.

If vehicles will be crossing the SM36 or FM36 in excess of 5 M.P.H., a speed bump and/or a Rumble Strip must be installed.
